Ft Dallas Lodge # 44
Echoes of the Lodge
By: DVG
In the lodge there is remembrance,
guiding the newcomer’s way,
a seed of living wisdom
that blooms again each day.
From brothers who walked before us light is born in what they teach,
and the young, deeply moved,
begin a higher reach.
Old stories are spoken gently,
with voices calm and true,
and questions find their answers
in every point of view.
The world keeps turning onward
between dream and reality,
yet the soul keeps falling softly
in rain of unity.
And on the walls remains written
the voice of those who passed,
like a flame that never falters,
a question built to last.
Memory is never broken,
truth is never left behind,
in the lodge lives the spirit
of a bond that binds mankind.
Reflection:
The poem presents the lodge as a living space of memory and wisdom. It is not only a physical place, but a community where the knowledge of elder brothers becomes guidance for new members. “Memory” appears as an active force—it does not remain in the past, but germinates and continues to bear fruit in each generation.
Throughout the verses, the importance of the testimony of those who have passed on is emphasized. Their teachings do not disappear; instead, they remain as a symbolic light that guides those who continue the path. This reinforces the idea of spiritual and fraternal continuity within the lodge.
The poem also highlights the value of dialogue between experience and curiosity. The young are not passive recipients; they actively participate through questions and learning. In this way, the lodge is portrayed as a space of moral and human formation, where reflection and inner growth are cultivated.
It also introduces a vision of a constantly changing world, yet contrasts that external movement with the stability of fraternity. Although life flows between dreams and reality, the bond among brothers remains firm, sustained by unity and friendship.
Finally, memory becomes legacy: what has been lived is not erased but “imprinted” as a symbolic presence that continues to guide. In this sense, the lodge is described as a place where history, teaching, and brotherhood intertwine to keep alive a tradition of shared values, very much aligned with the spirit of fraternal organizations such as the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
In summary, the poem celebrates the continuity of knowledge, the strength of memory, and the permanence of fraternity as pillars that sustain life within the lodge.

Ecos de la Logia
Por: DVG
En la logia hay memoria,
que al nuevo sabe guiar,
es semilla de la historia
que vuelve a germinar.
De los hermanos que han partido
nace luz al enseñar,
y el joven, conmovido,
aprende a caminar.
Reflecting on the essence of Ft Dallas Lodge #44, it becomes clear how such fraternal organizations serve as vital sanctuaries for continuity and personal development. Having participated in similar lodges, I can attest that the transmission of wisdom from elder brothers to newcomers creates a dynamic learning environment where history is not just preserved but lived. The poem beautifully captures this spirit—illustrating how the teachings and stories of past members illuminate the path for new generations, much like a guiding light in darkness. This sense of continuity is not merely symbolic but experienced daily through rituals and shared values, fostering a profound bond of unity and friendship. Moreover, the lodge acts as an incubator for inner growth. The dialogue between experience and curiosity—highlighted in the poem—is central to the fraternal journey. Young members are encouraged to engage actively, ask questions, and reflect deeply, nurturing moral and human formation. This active participation transforms the lodge into a living community where knowledge and companionship nurture the soul. In a rapidly changing world, the lodge’s stability offers a comforting counterbalance—anchoring members in timeless principles of fraternity and truth. This steadfastness amidst life’s flux reminds me of how external realities may shift, but core human bonds and shared legacies endure. Finally, memory as legacy emerges as a powerful theme. The lodge walls, inscribed with echoes of those who walked before, symbolize how history endures—not as a static record but as a vibrant presence guiding current and future members. This reinforces the lodge’s role as a keeper of tradition, where each generation adds its chapter, ensuring the flame of brotherhood and wisdom never fades.
