However, I’ve learned through personal experience that growth is healthiest when it respects the foundation you’ve built—your roots. When someone truly values you, they’ll cross small distances to witness your journey, not expect you to abandon your identity for their convenience. I once found myself trying to change who I was to keep a relationship afloat, thinking that growth meant sacrificing everything without expecting anything in return. But that imbalance felt draining and unsustainable. Real growth has to be mutual—it’s about walking together towards better versions of ourselves, not demanding change from one side while the other stays still. This perspective has helped me strengthen family ties and friendships where love is balanced and nurturing. Growth shared is growth that lasts because it is supported by effort from all involved. It’s a reminder to cherish the relationships that encourage you to thrive while staying true to yourself rather than dismantling your life’s architecture for those unwilling to meet you halfway.
