Plus Size Fashion Girlies Tips! ✨

Here are some tips that help me to dress better that helped me feel better, based on my personal experience!

✨ BASICS TO START

Everyone always say create a capsule wardrobe. Meaning pick out a few basics that can match anything. I agree! I find what works for me is having 2 black pants, 2 white pants, and 2 skirts (any colour). Because my bottoms are basic, I can mix up my tops. Either go monochrome (one colour head to toe), or do contrasting colours. Nowadays I love white so I try to match different shades of white. You can also find something that stands out for example a bag (my basket bag), big earrings, etc.

✨ FOCUS ON UPPER OR LOWER BODY

If you wear a basic plain bottom (flowy black pants for example), you can wear a shorter fun top. Be it a toga top, one shoulder, a wrap top, etc. This helps to create one focal point.

If you wear shorts, I will wear a shirt. Cause the focal point will be my shorts. And girl i used to be worried about cellulite. But you know what, at this point who DOESNT have cellulite. If you think everyone is looking, everyone is thinking the same!

✨ FIND YOUR COLOUR

You know how some people who go to Korea try to find if they’re a summer or autumn colour. If you can, do that. They have those available in Singapore too. For me, I just trial and error on my colours. I still don’t know what specific season I am, but I know baby blue, burnt orange, chocolate brown suit me. Find a colour that contrasts and compliments your skin tone. Trial and error!

✨ CREATE YOUR SHAPE

This is a PSA to all the ladies who want to create a silhouette, an hour glass figure even. Personally for me, I love wearing girdles / shapewear. They can get uncomfortable depending on how tight they are, but they also give you a smaller waist. I haven’t found the perfect one but I’m still finding!

For me I’ve a small waist and a big hip, so I wear crop tops and high waist bottoms. This gives the illusion of a small waist as well. If I’m wearing something fitting, I’ll wear a girdle / shapewear.

✨ BUY YOUR SIZE

Idk if anyone else feels this way but I used to buy a smaller size because I will trick myself into thinking I’m smaller. Or I will use that as a motivation. Don’t do that. If you can, try two sizes and see which one fits. Better yet if you’re buying online and there’s free returns, get 2 sizes! I’m a UK12 top and UK16-18 bottom, depending on what I wear and where I shop. Wear clothes that fit, especially if they’re stretchy don’t get a smaller size. Cause that just makes it look too stretched up.

I’ve struggled with my body for the longest time (I still do once in a while) but as I get older I get more comfortable. And as YOU get older you realise that you care less about what others think. If you don’t feel that way now, you will in the future. Imagine you see someone walk past you, who dress well, who stand up straight, smiles, walks with confidence. You’ll get the sense that she’s happy she’s in a positive space, she may even be like sunshine. Right? That’s where we all should strive to be at. Ladies, WE GOT THIS!

... Read moreWhen it comes to dressing a heavy-oval body type, understanding garment choices can significantly impact your style and comfort. From my experience, garments that create a 'waisted' look help define your silhouette beautifully, especially styles that emphasize your waist without being overly tight. Avoid heavy pile fabrics as they can add bulk, and opt instead for lightweight, breathable materials that drape nicely and complement your figure. I also recommend exploring garments with small geometric prints—they can add visual interest without overwhelming your look. When trying new styles, don't hesitate to experiment with layering and accessories like statement bags or bold earrings to draw attention to your favorite features. Finding the balance between fitted and flowy pieces allows you to highlight your curves while maintaining comfort. Try pairing high-waist bottoms with crop tops or tops that have design elements like wraps or interesting necklines to create focal points that elevate your outfit. Remember that embracing your size and choosing clothes that fit well, instead of smaller sizes that constrict, will boost your confidence and help you feel your best every day.
