Budgeting
How To stick to a budget #budget #budgetlife #budget money 💰 #budgetmindset #moneydiscipline
From my personal experience, one of the biggest challenges in budgeting is maintaining discipline without feeling deprived. A method that really helped me was separating my expenses into clear categories: needs, wants, and savings. Asking myself, “Will my life stop if I don’t buy this?” helped me identify what truly mattered. The 'Empty Rule' mentioned in the article was a game changer for me. By designating specific cash envelopes for categories like dining out or entertainment, I could visually see when the budget was empty and would automatically pause spending in that category. This kind of physical budgeting, also known as 'cash stuffing', made my spending habits more tangible compared to just tracking numbers on an app. Another tip I find useful is breaking down budgets weekly instead of monthly. I noticed that monthly budgeting felt overwhelming and often caused me to overspend early in the month. Weekly goals made managing groceries, allowances, and wants more manageable and less stressful. I also appreciate having a small 'fun money' category in the budget. Allowing myself a modest amount for treats like snacks or a milk tea prevented feelings of restriction, which often leads to budget-breaking impulses. Remember, a budget should be enjoyable and flexible enough to be sustainable. Lastly, tracking daily spending became an essential habit. Spending just a minute each night reflecting on what I spent and from which category created awareness and helped curb impulsive purchases before they got out of control. Mistakes in budgeting are inevitable; the key is consistency over perfection. Each incremental success builds stronger financial habits and, over time, greater financial freedom.

This is very good & I’ll try to stick to it!! My issue ALWAYS is the Needs VS Wants battle…
