Originating from South America, these tarantulas are arboreal, meaning they live primarily in trees and require a habitat that simulates their natural environment. When setting up a terrarium for a pink-toed tarantula, it's important to focus on vertical space and provide plenty of plants or branches for climbing. A secure lid is essential to prevent escape, as these spiders are known for their speed and agility. Maintaining adequate humidity is another crucial aspect of tarantula care. Pink-toed tarantulas thrive in environments with moderate to high humidity, typically between 70% and 80%. Regular misting and monitoring with a hygrometer can help maintain suitable moisture levels. Temperature control is also important, ideally kept between 70°F and 80°F (21°C to 27°C). Feeding pink-toed tarantulas a diet of live insects such as crickets, roaches, and mealworms is recommended. Juveniles require more frequent feeding, while adults can be fed once a week or every two weeks. It's also advisable to remove any uneaten prey after 24 hours to maintain cleanliness. Handling these spiders should be done with care, as they can be skittish and easily stressed.
