I get to design my DREAM Custom Wedding dress
So I have be holding on to this for a month and finally remembered my fiance doesn’t have lemon8.
After getting engaged in Feb 2023 I instantly knew what I was looking for in a dress. I couldn’t find anything that was quite right I liked some Essence of Australia dresses, a Maggie Sottero, and a new Made with Love dress with a removable skirt. None of them had everything I wanted. I even love some of the very structured elements from Eastern European designers. I fully excepted I was not going to get my DREAM dress.
Then on instagram I saw a local dress maker from my home town talking about her pricing on custom dresses. I was floored maybe I could afford custom.
Let’s do some girl math. Both of my friends who went the traditional bridal store route spent $1800 on their dresses. They also have to get alterations. For one of those friend her dress came in 2-3 sizes two big and she had to spend a lot on her alterations. In general alterations cost $300-$500 if there are no major problems with the dress. All in that is about $2100-$2300 which is what I was budgeting.
After meeting with my designer picking a super lux Japanese satin and going over my budget she agreed to make my dress for $2300. which yes was my budget but I also need 0 alterations. Not to mention my dress is 3 pieces. The main short dress, an overskirt with a slit, and a removable structured shoulder shawl. The MLW dress with over skirt retails for over $3000. The way I see it I am saving money on my perfect dress.
All that to say if you really want something in your wedding dress maybe consider local designers.
