if you need someone to help you get started...

I know this sounds dramatic… but hear me out.

If you’re a woman in your 30s or 40s thinking about starting something online…

Open a second Instagram account.

And block everyone you know.

Not because you’re doing anything wrong…

But because the biggest thing that stops most women from starting isn’t failure.

It’s the thought of people watching them try.

The coworkers.

Old classmates.

The random family member suddenly acting like a business critic.

When I first started sharing online, that fear was real.

So I focused on learning the skills.

Posting the content.

Figuring things out as I went.

Between naps.

After bedtime.

Sometimes sitting in the preschool pickup line.

Little by little… things started to grow.

Today that little idea has turned into a multi six-figure online business that allows me to stay home with my boys.

But none of that would’ve happened if I let the fear of being judged stop me from starting.

Most people aren’t afraid to try.

They’re afraid to try where people they know can see them.

So here’s your reminder:

Start messy.

Start quietly.

Start before you feel ready.

But start.

Because the only thing worse than someone judging you…

Is looking back years from now wishing you had tried.

Comment FREEDOM and I’ll send you the free training that helped me learn the skills to build my business from home.

And follow if you’re building something bigger than the life you were told to settle for.

5/31 Edited to

... Read moreStarting an online business can feel intimidating, especially when you worry about the opinions of people in your life. From personal experience, creating a separate Instagram account to block out those familiar eyes can be a game-changer. This approach lets you experiment and learn without the pressure of immediate judgment. Many women hesitate because they fear failure or criticism from coworkers, old classmates, or even family members who suddenly become unsolicited business critics. However, the reality is that most of us are not afraid to try; rather, we fear failing where people we know might see us struggle. I found that focusing on learning and posting content little by little—whether during naps, after bedtime, or even while waiting in the preschool pickup line—helped me develop consistency and confidence. It also reminded me that progress is a series of small steps, not giant leaps. Leveraging free online training and resources can accelerate skill development without breaking the bank, avoiding high upfront costs like $497 courses. Engaging with communities offering free tips can also provide motivation and practical advice without the pressure. Remember, starting 'messy' is perfectly fine. Waiting to feel fully ready or expecting perfection only delays your progress. The key is to begin in a safe, quiet environment, build momentum, and gradually grow your presence. Most importantly, ask yourself if you'd rather face temporary judgment or live with the regret of not trying at all. The freedom and empowerment that come with building something meaningful, on your own terms, are worth overcoming the fear of being watched. If you’re ready to take the first step, seeking out free training or support groups can provide useful frameworks and community encouragement, giving you the confidence to transform your passion into a sustainable income stream.
