5 Working-From-Home Tips That Actually Work…

WFH sounds cute… until you’re on Zoom with a toddler screaming in the background 😩💼

Let’s talk about the real WFH life.

I work a full 9-hour shift from home. My kids are constantly in and out of my office, my dog thinks she’s part of payroll, and I swear I say “Shhh… I’m about to take another call” more than my own name 😩📞

Here’s how I manage to still show up and get things done:

1. I Don’t Work in “Power Hours” — I Work Through the Chaos 💼👶🏾🐶

There’s no magical block of time where I’m uninterrupted.

My babies huddle under my desk like I’m hiding snacks, and my dog thinks every knock is for him.

But I stay clocked in, stay focused, and make it work between after-call notes and snack requests.

2. I Batch & Schedule Like My Sanity Depends On It 🗂️

All my social media content?

Scheduled.

All my posts?

Bathed in Canva magic and set to go.

That way, even if I’m neck-deep in calls, the content is still rolling out.

3. I Only Prioritize My Top 3 Tasks 🎯

If I knock out the 3 most important things on my list, I don’t stress the rest.

My planner stays simple and focused, just like my goals.

4. I Set Boundaries…And Re-set Them 10x a Day 🤣🚪

“Can you go in the other room while I finish this call?”

“Please stop yelling, I’m working.”

Boundaries in this house are more like reminders but I still hold the line.

5. I Give Myself Grace, Period. 💆🏾‍♀️

Every day won’t be pretty, but it’s always purposeful.

If I showed up, did what I could, and kept my kids alive?

It’s a win.

If you’re a mom working from home, building your dreams between calls and chaos

You’re not alone.

Drop a 🖤 if you feel this deep.

... Read moreWorking from home (WFH) can be a challenge, especially for parents juggling the demands of a full workday with family chaos. To navigate this unique landscape, it’s essential to adopt strategies that enhance productivity without compromising family time. One of the most effective methods is to embrace a flexible work schedule. Rather than expecting long, uninterrupted work hours, acknowledge that interruptions are a part of life. This mindset shift can help you mentally prepare for distractions and reduce stress when they occur. Consider breaking tasks into smaller segments that can be tackled during short periods of quiet. Scheduling becomes crucial when managing multiple responsibilities. Use digital tools and apps to plan your tasks for the week, ensuring that essential work gets prioritized. By batching similar tasks together, you can streamline your workload and make the most of those brief moments of focus. Setting clear boundaries with family members can also lead to a more serene work environment. Communicate your work hours and ask family members to respect your time during these periods. If you find it challenging to maintain discipline, consider setting up a designated workspace that signals to your family that you are in ‘work mode’. Additionally, it's vital to incorporate short breaks to recharge throughout your workday. Step away from your desk for a few minutes, stretch, or engage in a brief outdoor walk to clear your mind. These moments not only refresh your focus but also provide a mental reset that can enhance creativity and problem-solving. Lastly, remember to practice self-compassion. Working from home with children is no small feat. Acknowledge your efforts and celebrate small wins, such as completing a major task or successfully managing a challenging day. When you give yourself grace and understand that not every day will go as planned, you’ll find an increased sense of satisfaction and achievement when you reflect on your work-life balance.
