What I ate in Bangkok.

... Read moreDuring my recent trip to Bangkok, I had the chance to dive deep into Thailand’s rich culinary landscape, especially its decadent street food and unique desserts. One standout was the Jasmine Banana Fritter paired with refreshing coconut ice cream—a perfect harmony of warm, caramelized bananas and cool sweetness that truly captures the essence of Thai flavors. This dessert, known locally as ไอศกรีมกะทิกล้วยเผา, is commonly enjoyed at street vendors and small cafes that pride themselves on handmade, traditional recipes. Another memorable item was homemade custard, often served alongside soft, fluffy shokupan (Japanese milk bread), blending Thai sweetness with influences from other Asian cuisines. These custards are usually made fresh daily and offer a creamy texture that contrasts beautifully with the lightly toasted bread. I also noticed the popularity of moo krob, a savory crispy pork dish that added a satisfying crunch to meals. Beyond the textures and flavors, what makes eating in Bangkok so special is the atmosphere—open-air markets, the scent of spices in the humid air, and the friendly vendors eager to share their culinary heritage. Trying these dishes not only satisfied my palate but also gave me a glimpse into the heart of Thai culture, where food is an expression of history and community. For anyone visiting Bangkok, I highly recommend exploring these street food delights, as they offer authentic experiences that go beyond typical tourist fare.
