don’t Man Man (慢慢) walk, run !!
SG’s first charcoal grilled unagi specialty restaurant ?!
Unagi fans might know Man Man for their EEL-ectrifying meals, (esp their hitsumabushi) !! Live eels are air flown weekly from Mikawa, Japan, then charcoal grilled using the kabayaki method, giving a crisp exterior with a tender, fatty interior.
We had —
🌟 𝐖𝐚𝐠𝐲𝐮 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐥𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐭𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐢 ($𝟐𝟖.𝟖𝟎):
Shaved tender beef, slices of fatty unagi, and prominent truffle notes, all topped with a gooey egg yolk. Probs my fav of the night !! Yuzu miso soup added a unique sweet savoury depth with light citrusy notes. Comes with spring onions, seaweed, wasabi, pickles, & dashi, so you can enjoy it different ways, plus chawanmushi on the side.
⭐️ 𝐔𝐧𝐚-𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐚 𝐃𝐨𝐧 ($𝟑𝟖.𝟖𝟎):
MASSIVE slab of unagi paired with a fluffy, buttery omelette that was not overly seasoned. Pricey, but def a treat if you are f-EEL-ing indulgent 😋🥚
⭐️ 𝐌𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 ($𝟖.𝟖𝟎):
Honestly, for those with smaller appetites, this smoky sweet glazed unagi on a scorched rice onigiri would probably suffice. Simple, but satisfying & so worth !! 🍙
𝐌𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐢-𝐌𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐢 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐨 ($𝟏𝟐):
Quite fun to heat up your soft, chewy dangos & customise them with red bean paste, brown sugar, and kinako (soybean powder). Love that it’s not too sweet too 🍡✨
𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐫’𝐬 𝐘𝐮𝐳𝐮 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧 ($𝟒):
Made with lemon syrup 🍋 I liked the yuzu bits in this + the cute little bear 🐻 Overall, a refreshing drink & reasonably priced in a restaurant setting !!
𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞 ($𝟒):
At this price point, I thought it was decent. It didn’t taste artificial & not too sweet, though it was def on the milkier end.
🍵 FREE iced green tea if you follow them on IG !!
tldr: a must visit for unagi lovers, with a super central location & friendly staff ~
