Different kinds of Journaling Prompts

If you have ever been interested in journaling, I highly suggest starting or getting back into it.

Whether you just want to test it out, search deep into your mind and self reflection, or just write to decompress, these prompts are all great places to start.

Journaling has helped me in so many ways. Here are some prompts I have come up or like to use. I encourage everyone to at least give it a chance.

📝Description/Tips:

🩷Good Prompts for Everyday Journaling:

1. What is taking up the most space in your mind right now?

- I really like this prompt a lot. I have used it repeatedly when I just have too much going through my mind and can’t seem to focus on anything. You can go as deep or surface level as you want with this prompt.

2. What is one thing you are proud of yourself for and why?

- sometimes we forget to be acknowledge even the tiniest of wins. It’s good to recognize your progress and to be proud of yourself for it.

3. What is something you have learned about yourself this week?

- I feel like we don’t take time to really think about how we have grown in even a short amount. We can learn a lot about ourselves if we reflect back on the past week.

🩷 Journal Prompts for Deep Thought:

- these prompts are for when you want to dig a little deeper into your psyche and for self reflection.

1. In the last 3 months how have you grown and what ways do you want to grow more in the next 3 months?

- A lot can happen in 3 months, reflect on it and show yourself how far you’ve come, and how far you want to continue to grow in the next 3 months. I find it easier to feel more accomplished when I have a things I am aiming for and acknowledge what I HAVE accomplished.

2. If you were to TRULY introduce yourself to someone, what would you say?

- what attributes about yourself do you think are important and want people to know about you, this can be literally anything you want. It could be how many siblings you have, your zodiac sign, a major trauma, anything. This can help show how you see yourself and maybe provide a new perspective

3. What is a question you wish someone would ask you, why would you like to be asked this question?

- we all carry so much weight on our shoulders. I know there is always something that we want to get off our chests. It could even be as simple as “I want someone to ask me if I am okay, so I can be honest and tell them what’s going on”

🤪 Silly little prompts to answer:

- all the prompts above are pretty heavy, but not everyone wants to dig that deep into themselves, try answering these silly little prompts as a way to just decompress or get into journaling mode

1. What are your three favorite colors and what do they remind you of?

2. If you could experience being an animal for a day, what animal would you be and why?

3. If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?

Bonus points if you use physical paper and pencil, but I use my notes app just as much as my physical journal!
