Disneyland resort hotel changes!

2025/8/20 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, Disney fam, let's talk about these big changes, especially for those of us who love or are considering a stay at the Pixar Place Hotel! I know many of you, like me, still affectionately call it the Pixar Pier Hotel, and it holds a special place in our hearts. The news about the direct entrance to Disney California Adventure (DCA) closing from the Pixar Place Hotel starting January 5, 2026, is a huge deal for convenience. Before this change, being able to walk right into DCA from Pixar Place Hotel was a game-changer! It saved so much time, especially during busy park openings or when you just wanted to pop back to your room for a quick break. Now, guests will have to use the Grand Californian entrance, which means a bit of a longer walk. For families with little ones, or anyone who values those precious minutes, this is definitely something to factor into your planning. I'm already picturing myself, stroller in tow, thinking about that extra trek. It's not a deal-breaker, but it definitely changes the dynamic of staying there if that direct access was a key selling point for you. Let's not forget the other major shift: 'Early Entry Ends'. This 30-minute early entry perk was a fantastic way to get ahead of the crowds, especially for popular rides or character greetings. Now, instead of the '30-minute early entry', hotel guests, including those at Pixar Place Hotel, will receive 'one Lightning Lane entry' to a 'Lightning Lane Multi Pass attraction' during their stay. On one hand, a guaranteed Lightning Lane can be super valuable for a top-tier attraction. On the other hand, losing daily early access feels like a bigger loss for some of us who loved those quiet mornings in the park. It’s hard to compare a daily early start to a single Lightning Lane, right? Each offers a different kind of advantage. So, for anyone planning a trip in 2026 and beyond, especially if you're eyeing the Pixar Place Hotel (or still thinking of it as Pixar Pier Hotel), here's my take: Access to DCA: Be prepared for the walk to the Grand Californian entrance. Map it out, or plan to use the monorail if you're heading to Disneyland Park first. It’s still connected, just not as direct as before for DCA. New Lightning Lane Benefit: Make sure you understand how to use your 'Lightning Lane Multi Pass entry benefit for hotel guests'. You'll still need valid theme park admission and a park reservation. This isn't a replacement for Genie+, but a bonus. Choose your attraction wisely! Value Proposition: Is the Pixar Place Hotel still worth it? Absolutely, it has fantastic theming, updated rooms, and great amenities like the Pixar-themed pool deck. But you’ll need to adjust your expectations regarding park access convenience and the new early entry system. While the 'Early Entry Ends' is a resort-wide change, the entrance closure is specific to Pixar Place, making it a bigger consideration for that particular hotel. It's all about adapting to the magic, even when the magic changes! I'd love to hear your thoughts on how these changes might impact your future Disneyland Resort stays!

A Mr. Potato Head figure with a text overlay announcing a guide to water bottle refill stations in Disneyland and DCA, encouraging guests to save money by refilling.
A blue water refill station with text listing three Disneyland locations: Galactic Grill, Autopia, and Red Rose Tavern, where guests can refill water bottles.
A purple water fountain and refill station with text listing three Disneyland locations: Pirates Lair, Rancho del Zocalo, and near Pioneer Mercantile, for water refills.
Want to save $$ while in Disneyland??
Bring your own refillable water bottles and use the many refilling stations throughout the parks! 🙌🏻 You’d be shocked how fast it adds up when you buy water bottles inside the parks. It can be over $20 for family of 5. Do that multiple times a day….😬. . . . . #disneylandtips #disneylandtr
