Mega Salamence Raids in Pokémon GO

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share my recent experience with Mega Salamence raids. This Dragon/Flying-type beast is back in Pokémon GO from August 25 to September 2, and it's a fantastic opportunity to grab a powerful attacker and maybe even a shiny! I've been grinding these raids, and I've picked up some great strategies I want to pass on so you can conquer it too. First things first, understanding Mega Salamence's weaknesses is absolutely key. As a Dragon/Flying-type, it's vulnerable to Ice, Rock, Dragon, and Fairy-type attacks. From my battles, Ice is often your best bet for super-effective damage, but don't underestimate the others! Knowing these vulnerabilities helps immensely when picking your team. You'll want to exploit these types for maximum damage. From my raids, I've found a few Pokémon absolutely shred Mega Salamence. You'll want to prioritize these if you have them: Mega Rayquaza: Seriously, if you have one, use it! Dragon Ascent + Dragon Pulse is devastating. It also gives a damage boost to other Dragon-type Pokémon in your party, making everyone stronger. White Kyurem: Another absolute powerhouse. Dragon Breath + Dragon Claw or Outrage will do massive damage. Its raw power is incredible against Salamence. Other Top Ice-types: Mamoswine (Powder Snow/Avalanche), Galarian Darmanitan (Ice Fang/Avalanche), Weavile (Ice Shard/Avalanche). These guys hit incredibly hard and benefit from Ice-type weakness. Other Strong Dragon-types: Palkia (Dragon Breath/Draco Meteor), Dialga (Dragon Breath/Draco Meteor), Zekrom (Dragon Breath/Outrage), Hydreigon (Dragon Breath/Brutale Swing). These are excellent choices if you lack the Mega or Legendary options. Rock-types: Rampardos (Smack Down/Rock Slide) and Tyranitar (Smack Down/Stone Edge - especially if it's a Shadow Tyranitar) are fantastic, particularly if you're raiding during partly cloudy weather. Fairy-types: Gardevoir (Charm/Dazzling Gleam) and Togekiss (Charm/Dazzling Gleam) offer solid, consistent damage, though they might not out-DPS the top Ice or Dragon attackers, they are still very viable. Even though the official recommendation is 2+ trainers, I've seen some skilled players attempt to solo it. However, to be safe and ensure you get that Mega energy and potential shiny quickly, definitely aim for 2-3 strong trainers. Its CP can range from 2142-2678 at encounter, so it's no pushover. Don't forget to use your Mega Evolution for the damage boost and extra candy. Keep an eye out for weather boosts too – windy weather boosts Dragon attacks, and snowy weather boosts Ice attacks, which can really turn the tide in your favor! Mega Salamence is an S-Tier raid attacker itself, so getting one is a huge win. And for all my fellow shiny hunters out there, the shiny odds for Mega Salamence are about 1 in 128, which is pretty good for a raid boss! Plus, getting Mega energy means you can Mega Evolve your own Salamence, making it an incredibly powerful asset for future battles.
