This is truly heartbreaking. Alyssia Stewart, 35, and Dusharne Stewart, 37, of Prairieville, Louisiana, should have been preparing to celebrate their first wedding anniversary—the beginning of a life they had only just started building together. Instead, their loved ones are mourning a devoted husband and wife whose shared future was taken far too soon.
Shortly after 6 p.m. on August 12, 2026, Alyssia was driving eastbound on I-10 in Ascension Parish with Dusharne in the passenger seat when Louisiana State Police report that a Ford F-250 struck the rear of their Nissan Altima. The impact triggered a chain-reaction collision involving two additional vehicles. Although both Alyssia and Dusharne were wearing seatbelts and were transported to a nearby hospital, both tragically succumbed to their injuries.
It is especially painful to reflect on the fact that they had stood together in their wedding attire less than a year earlier, full of hope for the many anniversaries, milestones, holidays, and everyday moments they believed lay ahead. They were only three months away from celebrating their first wedding anniversary. 💔
