Reaching 20 years of marriage

April 21,2006 the glow up is so real.. 😬😳🤭🤗😍As we are approaching our 20th anniversary in a few months marks two decades of navigating life's ups and downs, building a shared life, and strengthening a bond. It's a time to celebrate the journey, the partnership, and the enduring nature of a successful marriage. Twenty years of marriage, symbolizes a relationship that is both beautiful and strong, like fine porcelain, requiring care but enduring over time, shared growth, challenges overcome, and lasting commitment. Are we perfect no but we’re perfect for each other. No marriage is peaches and cream. Reaching our 20th wedding anniversary is a meaningful marriage anniversary milestone, reflecting two decades of love, growth, and intentional partnership. We not only learn each other we learned a lot about ourselves through this journey. I am DIFFICULT 😬😔and I’m so grateful that he put up with my ssa and I wouldn’t want nobody else to get on my nerves and aggravate me like he does. He’s the best pain in my ssa 🍑 that I want to feel everyday while I’m on this earth. He’s my person, loml, my bff, my lover😋, my king🤴🏼, my baby daddy, my oldest child 🤭my shoulder to cry on and wipes my tears away, my peace, my headache, my personal chef and chauffeur, the sweetest and hardworking person ever, best son in law, my travel companion, praying husband, best pawpaw and so much more. I prayed for you and I thank God every day and night for you. We are blessed to have each other. I can confide to my husband I know that he cares about my joys, hurts, and fears. As I reflect on my 20 years of marriage

I feel tremendous gratitude that my spouse and I were able to make it through some incredibly painful chapters due to the guidance prayers to God and our guardian angels 💜🕊️watching over us as well as our own commitment to continually grow and appreciate each other. Keeping our marriage alive after 20 years means actively nurturing connection through consistent effort: prioritize regular, quality time (date nights!), maintain open and honest communication (including tough talks), show appreciation and affection daily, support individual passions, and keep the romance alive with fun, new experiences and physical touch, remembering to view my partner with fresh eyes and serve each other generously. I can’t wait to try new activities together, travel to new places, have fun and enjoy so many more dates, watch our grandchildren grow up, new blessings, grow old together, have deep conversations, being a better wife, praying together, being spontaneous💌. making memories together and stay madly in love❣️#shamekaandblake #marriagelife #marriage #love #20yearanniversary

... Read moreReaching two decades of marriage isn't just about counting years; it's a profound journey of shared growth, unwavering commitment, and countless lessons learned. As my partner and I reflect on this incredible milestone, we realize it's a testament to actively choosing each other, day in and day out. It’s a period that truly symbolizes a relationship that is both beautiful and strong, much like fine porcelain – requiring care, but enduring beautifully over time. Many often ask, 'What is 20 years of marriage truly like?' It's definitely not a smooth, uninterrupted path. For us, like many couples, it involved navigating job changes, family dynamics, personal struggles, and even global events – remember our Cancun honeymoon during the Swine Flu? From our wedding day in April 2006, complete with a courthouse ceremony and backyard reception, to buying our first home just two years later, and all the spontaneous trips in between, each stage brought its own set of blessings and hurdles. It's about finding strength in vulnerability and learning to adapt together, even when our camera got wet on a beautiful beach or during our younger days of partying and working. One of the biggest takeaways is the power of communication – not just talking, but truly listening. We've learned to have those 'tough talks' with honesty and respect, even when it's uncomfortable. Another cornerstone is appreciation and affection; small gestures daily make a huge difference. Don't underestimate the simple act of a loving touch or a heartfelt 'thank you.' And importantly, allowing each other space for individual passions, while also prioritizing 'us' time – those regular date nights are non-negotiable! Keeping the romance alive means viewing your partner with fresh eyes, just like we see our 'glow up' in our recent selfies, continuing to discover new layers to love. Romance evolves over two decades. It's not always grand gestures; sometimes it’s a shared laugh, cooking together, or simply knowing someone's got your back no matter what. The photos from our journey – from a city birthday celebration to a mirror selfie in western-style attire, or even just a smiling couple in a car – remind me of our evolution, always finding new ways to connect and enjoy each other's company. It’s about being present and making new memories, just like Shameka and Blake, who embody a couple navigating these wonderful milestones. Twenty years signifies a deep, enduring commitment to 'we' over 'me.' It’s about building a shared life and always striving to be a better partner. It's a beautiful, messy, wonderful journey, and we wouldn't trade it for anything. We look forward to many more years of growth, new adventures, and continuing to nurture that unique bond that makes us 'perfect for each other.' It's a continuous, intentional partnership fueled by love and mutual respect.
