This sentence broke my self-worth…💔

There’s a specific kind of wound that comes from being told…

“You wouldn’t be where you are without me.”

Especially when it came from the same person who hurt you.

For a long time, I carried the belief that I was only “okay” because someone else pushed me, forced me, or controlled me into becoming better.

That without them… I would’ve failed.

That I was incapable on my own.

That I needed someone to stay on me, or I’d fall apart.

And that belief?

It didn’t motivate me… it broke me.

Because it made me feel powerless in my own life.

But here’s the truth I had to reparent within myself:

✨ Yes, there may have been external pressure.

✨ Yes, there were circumstances that shaped my path.

But it was MY strength that got me through it.

It was MY resilience that kept me going when things felt unbearable.

It was MY spirit that chose not to give up.

It was MY perseverance—guided by God—that carried me forward.

No one gets to take credit for the strength it took you to survive what hurt you.

You are not a product of control.

You are a product of your endurance.

And if you’ve ever been made to feel like you’d be nothing without someone else…

This is your reminder:

You didn’t make it this far because of them.

You made it this far in spite of them.

And that power?

It’s always been yours. 🤍

... Read moreMany people have experienced the painful sting of someone taking credit for their achievements or making them feel incapable without external support. Such words can deeply wound our self-esteem and create lasting doubts about our own abilities. From my own healing journey, I learned that acknowledging these feelings is the first step toward reclaiming your power. It’s important to recognize that while others might have influenced or pressured us, the real driving force behind our progress is our own resilience. This means reflecting on times when you kept going despite difficulties, when your spirit refused to give up, and when inner strength carried you through. These moments affirm that the power to survive and thrive comes from within. Practicing self-compassion helps dismantle the belief that someone else’s approval or control determined your success. Reparenting yourself involves offering kindness and understanding to your inner child who may have felt powerless. Meditation, journaling, or talking with supportive friends or counselors can nurture this healing process. I also found that connecting my perseverance to a greater spiritual purpose gave me renewed faith in my abilities and worthiness. Whether guided by faith, mindfulness, or personal values, this connection reinforces that your endurance and spirit are uniquely your own. Ultimately, the message to hold onto is this: you didn’t just survive because someone else pushed you—you made it through despite them. Embracing this truth opens the door to greater confidence, self-respect, and freedom from toxic influences. If you’ve ever been told "You wouldn’t be where you are without me," remember that your journey is proof of your inner strength and endurance. Keep nurturing that power, and let it guide you to healing and empowerment every day.
