What Are You Taking for Granted?

#ThankfulThursday

Your attention is powerful…

Whatever you repeatedly look for becomes easier to notice.

That’s why gratitude is more than saying “thank you.” It’s a practice of paying attention.

Today, don’t ask:

What do I still need?

Try asking:

What do I already have that deserves to be appreciated?

Instead of getting caught up in what I still need or want, I try to focus intentionally on what I already have that brings joy and comfort. For example, I began making a habit every morning to note even the smallest reasons to smile—like a kind word from a friend or a beautiful sunrise. These moments might seem simple, but they help train your mind to recognize positivity more easily. One thing I found helpful is to occasionally reflect on things I once prayed or hoped for, which I now take for granted. Recognizing these fulfilled wishes, whether it's good health, supportive relationships, or opportunities, grounds me in appreciation rather than entitlement. Practicing this has taught me to see love and lessons around me as gifts rather than obligations. This approach aligns perfectly with the idea that "whatever you repeatedly look for becomes easier to notice." Gratitude amplifies our attention toward what’s truly valuable, enhancing emotional well-being and resilience. On #ThankfulThursday and beyond, I encourage everyone to pause and ask: "What do I already have that deserves to be appreciated?" This small shift in mindset can foster deeper happiness and cultivate a richer appreciation for the present moment.
