How to keep the BO Away

It’s summer and it’s super hot in Los Angeles and that means sweaty armpits all the time. As a girly who sweats very easily and is prone to smelly armpits, this summer

I have been more intentional with my armpits’ care routine and have noticed a huge difference. Here is what I have been doing.

1. Exfoliating my armpits. Just like any area of the body the armpits can have dead skin cells and bacteria that causes smell so by exfoliating my armpits I am getting rid of that. I do not do it every day but at least 2x a week. I make my own exfoliate by mixing brown sugar, lemon, and coconut oil.

2. Now this might seem a little weird yet your clothing has a lot to do with how much you smell. There is certain fabrics that are not breathable. For example synthetic fabrics are less absorbent and hold on to sweat and bacteria whereas natural fibers such as linen and cotton do not. This summer I am wearing more natural fibers.

3. Use a more natural based deodorant. Since natural based deodorants do not include aluminum your sweat glands do not clog which is good. You will sweat which is natural yet you will not have clog glands with chemicals. I have been using AKT Deodorant Balm and it works wonders, honestly the best one I have ever tried.

Body odor primarily results from sweat interacting with bacteria on the skin. To combat this, consider incorporating exfoliation into your routine at least twice weekly to remove dead skin and prevent odor buildup. A homemade scrub of brown sugar, coconut oil, and lime can effectively exfoliate and hydrate your armpits. Moreover, the fabrics you choose can significantly impact odor retention. Opting for breathable, natural fibers such as cotton and linen can help absorb moisture and allow for better airflow, reducing sweat accumulation. It's advisable to stay away from synthetic materials that can exacerbate sweating and smell. Finally, consider switching to natural deodorants without aluminum. These allow your sweat glands to function normally, reducing the build-up of chemicals in your body while keeping you feeling fresh. Many find success with products like AKT Deodorant Balm, as they often provide effective protection without harmful additives. Implementing these tips can lead to a more enjoyable summer experience while ensuring you're always feeling and smelling your best.
