Get rid of your stress
Cortisol is the primary stress hormone. Cortisol is an essential hormone the body needs and uses during stress that you need to be alert and ready. Yet if you are experiencing stress all the time your body will release cortisol and this can affect you in many different ways. If you are going through a stressful season in life here are ways I like to distress and overall help my body lower my cortisol levels.
1. I love getting a couple of minutes of sunlight in the morning before I even think about my day responsibilities. I make it a peaceful time to distress and pray. Morning sunlight helps regulate your cortisol levels throughout the day. You can do this by taking a quick walk, going out on your balcony or even standing close to a window.
2. I have also noticed eating a healthy balanced breakfast has helped me a lot. I try not to eat a sugary breakfast or have caffeine on an empty stomach. You want to make sure you are minimizing sugars for breakfast to help your adrenal health.
3. Overall the best way to lower your cortisol is by lowering your stress. Do things that bring peace to you. I love being in nature away from electronics. This gives me a boost of peace and happiness and lowers my dress.
Stress is a common issue that affects many people, leading to an increase in cortisol levels. It's essential to recognize the symptoms of stress, such as fatigue, irritability, and difficulty concentrating. Engaging in mindfulness practices, like meditation or yoga, can be beneficial. Regular physical activity is another effective method to alleviate stress, as it releases endorphins that promote a sense of well-being. Additionally, prioritize getting enough sleep, as lack of rest can exacerbate stress and increase cortisol levels. Consider incorporating herbal teas like chamomile or green tea, known for their calming properties, into your routine. Eating a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, whole grains, and plenty of fruits and vegetables can also support stress reduction and improve overall health. Remember, finding activities that bring joy and relaxation is crucial in combating stress effectively.
