I'm ready
An #uppercervical adjustment would be nice right now...
As a chiropractor, I often find myself in the unique position of being both the care provider and the one who needs care. The humorous feeling of needing an adjustment while being the professional who performs them is something many in my field can relate to. Upper cervical adjustments, in particular, play a vital role not only for patients but also for practitioners. Upper cervical chiropractic focuses on precise adjustments of the top two vertebrae in the neck—the atlas and axis. These vertebrae are critical as they protect the brainstem and support head movement. For chiropractors, who spend long hours treating others, maintaining good alignment in this area is crucial to prevent chronic pain or strain. I remember a time when, after a long day of helping others with spinal issues, I started feeling tightness and slight dizziness myself. Applying what I preach, I sought an upper cervical adjustment and experienced immediate relief. This helped me understand firsthand the importance of regular care to sustain my own physical health and enhance my ability to serve others. Being a chiropractor doesn’t make you immune to the stresses placed on the body. In fact, the repetitive motions and postures involved in treatment can sometimes contribute to misalignments. Upper cervical adjustments are a great way to address subtle imbalances that affect not only the neck but overall nervous system function. In my experience, encouraging fellow chiropractors and healthcare professionals to prioritize their adjustments is vital. Self-care through upper cervical treatment ensures they maintain peak performance and prevent burnout or injury. It’s a powerful reminder that even healers need healing, and investing in our spinal health is essential for longevity and effectiveness in the profession.
