Text Message Series #2: Boyfriend

This is my first EVER relationship. I never really had a guide in first relationships and so everything i’ve been learning is on my own!

What do you mean a guide in first relationships? Well, what I mean is that I’m dating someone who’s had experience in previous relationships. I have ZERO experience. So it’s easy to compare and stress. It’s easy to tell yourself lies. There is no such thing as being “the perfect” girlfriend and that’s okay.

📌 NO MORE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS 📌

I’m going to post more about first relationships and provide advice to girls who STRUGGLE with first relationships. It’s not easy and it’s something I’m still figuring out as a Christian and as a soon-to-be graduating college student. I’m going to be vulnerable with you just as I hope you guys are with me.

I can’t wait to take this journey with you all. Follow along and enjoy the ride. 🫶

It's common to feel overwhelmed by comparisons, particularly if your partner has more experience. This often leads to self-doubt and anxiety about being the 'perfect' girlfriend. The truth is, there is no ideal partner, and it's essential to practice self-compassion. In a world where social media often portrays flawless relationships, it can be difficult to recognize the authenticity behind shared images and messages. It's crucial to acknowledge that every relationship is unique. By embracing vulnerability, you can cultivate a deeper connection with your partner. Sharing your thoughts and feelings openly fosters trust, allowing both partners to grow together. As someone figuring this out as both a Christian and a student, remember that it's okay to seek guidance from friends, family, or trusted mentors. They can provide support and perspective as you navigate the ups and downs of your relationship. It's also vital to communicate your needs and boundaries clearly. A healthy relationship is built on respect and understanding, where both partners feel heard and valued. Celebrate small victories together, and don’t shy away from having difficult conversations when necessary. Learning to trust your partner and allowing them to support you will deepen your bond. Finally, don’t forget to cherish the moments you share. Whether it's sending sweet texts or going on adventures together, these experiences shape your relationship’s foundation. So enjoy every step of the journey, and remember to love yourself as you learn and grow together.
