Let me tell youuuuu! Soul Ties are not for the weak! I REPEAT!!! They are not for the weak! Beforehand I never knew much about soul ties. I didn’t know so much about the depth of sex and why God made it for marriage. But buddy when I fell in love and got engaged and actually created a soul tie. Then broke up with him. It was the worst feeling. Maneeeee dude I’m gonna be honest with you since I am a pastors kid. That’s all I ever heard is wait till marriage or it’s only good when you are married. And no one wanted to tell the real deal about sex.
I’m glad that I had a momma who would be for real with me but it took me to actually experience it for myself. Soul ties are very much real and very important to be talked about. Because I feel like you gotta be ready not only physically, but mentally and emotionally ready when it comes to Sex and soul ties. I know there are a lot of thoughts and opinions on this topic. Me personally these are my thoughts.
I know I mentioned Apostle Paul 😂 because I just got done reading 1 corinthians 7. As I am currently now single and actually focusing on my walk with Christ without having to serve another as I would in Marriage. I finally understand what Apostle Paul meant. Now don’t get me wrong I do want marriage but right now I’m content with it just being me and God because I can focus on God and pleasing him and serving him.

Especially growing up, I was always taught that marriage was the ultimate goal, the blessed path, and that sex was only 'good' within its confines. But honestly? No one really explained why with the kind of depth that prepares you for real life. It took me experiencing a painful breakup and the profound weight of a soul tie to truly get it. That’s when 1 Corinthians 7 clicked for me, and I realized Apostle Paul was right: there's a unique and powerful truth to why being single can actually be better, especially for your walk with God.
So, what did Paul really say about being single? When I dove into 1 Corinthians 7, I found his guidance wasn't about shaming marriage or sex, but about maximizing our devotion to God. He starts by saying, “It is good for a man not to touch a woman” (1 Cor 7:1), which sounds stark, but it’s followed by acknowledging that if people can't control their desires, they should marry. However, his strong preference for singleness shines through when he states, “I wish that all of you were as I am” (1 Cor 7:7). Why? Because he saw an incredible advantage in being single: undivided devotion to the Lord.
Paul explains that a married person is concerned with the affairs of this world—how to please their spouse. This isn't a bad thing; it's part of the commitment. But a single person, he asserts, is free to be concerned with the affairs of the Lord, how to please Him (1 Cor 7:32-35). This was a game-changer for me. After navigating the complexities and emotional entanglement of a soul tie, I understood how much relational dynamics can pull your focus. My own experience showed me firsthand how deeply intertwined your spirit can become with another person, creating distractions and challenges to pure devotion, even with good intentions.
Suddenly, the idea that "Being Single is better!" wasn't about being lonely or 'less than'; it was about freedom. Freedom to pour my whole heart, energy, and time into God without the beautiful, yet demanding, considerations of a spouse. It’s a season where I can truly focus on building my relationship with Christ, understanding His call for me, and serving Him wholeheartedly. This isn't to say marriage isn't wonderful or God-ordained; it absolutely is. But there’s a distinct power in singleness that allows for an intensity of spiritual focus that is hard to replicate when your heart is also intertwined with another through marriage.
My journey helped me realize that Paul wasn't just giving advice; he was revealing a profound spiritual principle. Singleness, viewed through Paul’s lens, becomes an opportunity for unparalleled spiritual growth and dedication. It's a chance to truly know yourself in Christ, to deepen your faith, and to serve without the beautiful distractions that come with a committed relationship. So, for anyone navigating singleness or recovering from soul ties, remember Paul's words. Embrace this season as an incredible gift to draw closer to God, because in His eyes, and for His purposes, being single can truly be a better path for a time.
I learned this as a single mother, I had no idea until after my divorce how real soul ties are. I’m trying to embrace singlehood but already having kids it feels out of balance. I’m so glad you are enjoying the gift of singleness though!
