Gatekeeping, or restricting access and defining who 'belongs' based on specific criteria, often limits the diversity and richness of a community. Practicing zero gatekeeping means embracing everyone's unique experiences and perspectives without judgment or exclusion. For instance, instead of dismissing newcomers as 'not real fans' or belittling someone for their style or interests, adopting a #ZeroGatekeeping mindset encourages support and curiosity. This approach not only builds stronger connections but also fosters creativity and learning. From my experience, communities without gatekeeping thrive better as people feel safe to share, grow, and contribute. This was especially evident when I joined fan groups or hobby circles that welcomed all levels of knowledge and participation, creating a more dynamic and inclusive environment. Ultimately, #ZeroGatekeeping is about respecting individuality and promoting kindness. By removing arbitrary barriers, we create spaces where everyone can engage authentically and feel valued.
