This wasn’t the plan…

A year ago, I lost my newly promoted job… and everything felt uncertain.

I went from having my own income to becoming a stay-at-home mom overnight. It was something I always wanted to be but not necessarily in the fashion it happened. Then life hit us again—my husband was out of work for 3 months due to medical reasons. Bills didn’t pause. Stress didn’t wait. And honestly… neither did the anxiety.

We were just trying to keep our heads above water.

Late nights, running numbers, wondering how we were going to catch up… while still showing up as the kind of mom I wanted to be.

But something shifted.

Instead of waiting for the “right time” or a miracle, I decided to try something different—something I could do from home, during nap times, after bedtime, in the quiet moments.

No big, perfect plan. Just a decision to try.

And slowly… things started changing.

Now I’m still home with my kids, still in the messy middle of life—but I’m also contributing financially again. Even while my husband works second shift.

It’s not about overnight success.

It’s about not staying stuck.

If you’re in a hard season right now—juggling motherhood, finances, and everything in between—I see you.

And just know… there are ways to start, even from right where you are 🤍

Comment “START” if you want to know what I found.

... Read moreNavigating the sudden transition from a steady income to becoming a stay-at-home mom can be overwhelming, especially when compounded by additional family challenges like a spouse's medical leave or job loss. Many moms find themselves in a similar situation, struggling to balance the emotional and financial strains that come with such life changes. One effective strategy I've learned through personal experience is embracing small, manageable steps rather than waiting for the 'perfect' time or an ideal plan. For example, identifying opportunities that fit around your family's schedule—like working during naps or after bedtime—can create meaningful income streams without compromising time with your children. Exploring online income options such as freelance writing, virtual assistance, or content creation helped me find flexibility and purpose. Starting without pressure for overnight success allowed me to focus on progress over perfection. This approach alleviated anxiety and empowered me to contribute financially, even during challenging periods. Moreover, reaching out to support communities and sharing experiences can provide encouragement and practical advice. When bills don’t pause and stress mounts, connecting with others who understand your journey can make a significant difference. Remember, success isn't only defined by rapid achievements but also by the resilience to keep moving forward. You don't have to wait for circumstances to get better; sometimes, stopping waiting and trying something different from home can be the catalyst for positive change.
