My initial list featuring Super Mario Odyssey, both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and its stunning sequel Tears of the Kingdom, and the vibrant Super Mario Bros. Wonder are truly phenomenal. Odyssey is a masterclass in platforming freedom, letting you explore diverse kingdoms and collect moons to your heart's content. The Zelda titles offer unparalleled open-world exploration, with intricate puzzles and a sense of boundless adventure that keeps you hooked for hundreds of hours. And Mario Wonder brings back classic side-scrolling magic with fresh twists, making every level a delightful surprise. These are genuinely some of the best experiences the Switch has to offer. But if you're looking to expand your library beyond these iconic titles, here are a few more 'must-plays' that I adore. For RPG fans, Pokémon Legends: Arceus offers a fantastic, fresh take on the classic monster-catching formula, blending open areas with real-time combat for an immersive experience. If you prefer a more traditional, sprawling JRPG, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 provides hundreds of hours of epic storytelling, strategic combat, and breathtaking landscapes. And you absolutely cannot forget the undeniable charm of Animal Crossing: New Horizons – it's the perfect cozy game to unwind with, letting you build your own island paradise and interact with adorable animal villagers. Don't overlook incredible indie titles either, like the fast-paced rogue-like Hades or the endlessly charming farming simulator *Stardew Valley*. One common question I see is about the 'best offline games' for the Switch. This is super important for traveling, commuting, or simply when you just don't have reliable Wi-Fi! The existing library is massive and constantly growing, filled with incredible, high-quality experiences that are worth every penny. Investing in these 'best games in Switch 1' right now means you get to dive into years of proven fun, excellent gameplay, and memorable stories, regardless of future console releases.
