From my personal observation, the buzzing sound of these drones closely resembles that of a moped or the wind-driven siren of a WWII Stuka dive bomber, which can create psychological effects on the battlefield. These drones often operate in swarms, overwhelming air defenses through sheer numbers and coordinated attacks. Their relatively low cost compared to traditional missiles provides a tactical advantage for Iran and its allies. However, they do have disadvantages like limited range and vulnerability to advanced anti-aircraft systems such as the Flakpanzer Gepard, which has an effective range of about 5.5 km. Overall, understanding the Shahed-136's design and operational methods offers valuable insight into Iran's military strategy and the evolving landscape of aerial warfare. Their utilization points towards a shift in asymmetric warfare tactics, leveraging technology and swarm tactics to challenge more traditionally powerful adversaries.
