... Read moreDealing with a denied PTO request can be frustrating, especially when your manager asks for additional documentation afterward. From personal experience, the best approach is to remain calm and professional. Start by reviewing your company's PTO policy to understand your rights and any requirements for documentation. It's important to communicate openly with your manager; ask for clarification on why the PTO was denied and what specific documentation they need. Providing clear and timely information shows your willingness to cooperate and can help resolve misunderstandings. Sometimes, managers ask for documentation to ensure fairness in scheduling or to comply with company policies. If you find the process overly burdensome or unfair, consider discussing the issue with your HR department for support. Keeping a record of your communications helps protect your interests. Remember that transparency and proactive communication can ease tensions and increase the chances of your PTO being approved in the future. Prioritize planning your time off in advance to avoid last-minute complications. This experience has taught me that understanding company protocols and maintaining respectful dialogue is key to navigating PTO requests effectively.

Why would he need documentation AFTER denying your PTO. You earned your PTO and honestly it’s not his/her business what you do on your PTO. That’s why it’s called PERSONAL TIME OFF.
