it’s only been 2 days… and I’m excited for what’s to come…#Lemon8SG #travelrecommendation
My adventures in Nepal are off to an absolutely incredible start, and I can already tell you: this country deserves a top spot on your bucket list! While many come for the majestic mountains and epic trekking routes, I've discovered so many unique experiences that truly make Nepal special and will inspire you to take action and plan your own trip. Beyond the stunning views from every balcony, the local culture here is vibrant and welcoming. One of the most impactful experiences I've had is visiting Seeing Hands for a massage. This isn't just any spa; it's a social enterprise where trained visually impaired therapists offer incredible massages. It's a deeply relaxing and unique way to support a wonderful community initiative – perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring or even preparing your muscles for an upcoming trek. For a taste of local life, you absolutely have to try Raksi. This traditional Nepali alcoholic beverage is often home-brewed and shared during celebrations. Finding a local spot to sample it, perhaps with some authentic momos, is an experience in itself. Just be prepared – it can be quite potent! Another highlight was discovering the Kevin Rohan Memorial Foundation. If you're looking for meaningful souvenirs or want to support local women, this is the place. They create beautiful beaded crafts, and buying from them directly contributes to their empowerment and community development. It’s truly inspiring to see the impact your purchases can have. When the evening rolls around, I highly recommend checking out Fat Monk Rooftop Bar. It’s such a cozy spot with fantastic live music, offering a great atmosphere to reflect on your day’s adventures. Imagine sipping a drink, enjoying the tunes, and planning your next move – whether it's another trek or exploring more of Kathmandu's hidden gems. And for something completely unexpected? I stumbled upon a local barbershop where I got a $3 haircut! Believe it or not, the experience was even live-streamed on TikTok. It’s these quirky, spontaneous moments that truly make a trip unforgettable. Plus, you’ll find the friendliest of dogs everywhere, ready for a quick pet and a wagging tail. Nepal offers such a rich tapestry of experiences, from deep cultural immersion and social impact opportunities to unexpected fun and relaxation. It’s not just about the peaks; it’s about the people, the traditions, and the small, inspiring moments that fill every day. Trust me, you'll be constantly "inspired to take action" to explore more of what this amazing country has to offer, making it an essential addition to any adventurer's bucket list, whether you prefer strenuous trekking or leisurely cultural exploration.
