Three nights ago, I was scrolling and came across TikTok video of a vet explaining why every dog owner should keep activated charcoal at home. They said it can bind toxins in the stomach before they get absorbed, and it could mean the difference between life and death in an emergency. They specified getting the ‘pawmergency’ activated charcoal, which I managed to find on Amazon. They said the brand was the best one on the market, and other alternatives didn’t contain enough charcoal so we’re not effective.
Since my dog is always sneaking food he shouldn’t, I didn’t even think twice, I ordered the Pawmergency Activated Charcoal off Amazon that same night. And thank f*do I did honestly!!
Because three nights later… my dog gets into my friend’s purse and eats a whole pack of sugar-free gum. My heart literally stoppe when I realized. Gum with xylitol can cause seizures, liver failure, and even death in dogs.
But because that video was so fresh in my mind, I knew exactly what to do. I called poison control, they told me to give activated charcoal immediately, and I had it ready. I administered it, then rushed him to the vet.
The vet said no further action was needed bc the charcoal prevented the toxins from spreading. They even said they wish more owners were this prepared which made me stressed, because I’d never have known about this if it wasn’t for that TikTok! I dread to think what would have happened if I hadn’t had the pawmergency charcoal!
Please take this as your sign to stock it. You never know when you might need it ❤️🩹🥹🐶🐾
