🌿Herbal Support for Allergies 🌿

Hi friends,

Allergy season is about to hit here in the Midwest, so I want to share my favorite herbs that I start using 4–6 weeks before spring is in full swing.

Stinging Nettle

A natural antihistamine that helps block inflammatory triggers and stabilize mast cells, which reduces sneezing and congestion.

Elderberry (My Quercetin Source)

Rich in quercetin and flavonoids, elderberry helps stabilize mast cells and prevent the release of histamine, supporting a balanced immune response.

Turmeric + Black Pepper

Curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, calms cytokine production—a key factor in allergic reactions. It reduces inflammation by inhibiting NF-κB (Nuclear Factor Kappa-Light-Chain-Enhancer of Activated B Cells), a protein complex that acts as a master regulator of inflammation and immune responses. While NF-κB is essential for survival, it becomes harmful when overactive during allergic reactions (similar to the thyroid). Turmeric helps block this overactivation. Black pepper enhances curcumin absorption by up to 2000%, making the combo highly effective.

Bonus Tip: Local Raw Honey

Contains trace amounts of local pollen, which may help desensitize the immune system—similar to micro-dosing with allergy shots.

Best for: Mild environmental allergies. Take 1 tsp daily, starting 2–3 months before allergy season.

2. Pour vodka over the herbs until fully submerged

3. Seal tightly, shake well, and store in a dark place.

4. Shake daily for 4-6 weeks.

All herbs are linked in my bio. If you need a step by step guide always you can always check out my mini course, “How to Transform your Family’s Medicine Cabinet in 20 mins” (also in bio)

Reminder that herbal remedies are most effective when used consistently!

Many blessings,

Jen

Stinging Nettle is often noted for its antihistamine properties, making it a popular choice for reducing symptoms like sneezing and congestion. Elderberry serves as a potent source of quercetin, which can help stabilize mast cells and enhance the immune response. Additionally, combining Turmeric with Black Pepper leverages curcumin's anti-inflammatory effects and boosts absorption for better efficacy. Incorporating local raw honey into your diet can also provide additional support. This honey contains local pollen, which may help your body adapt to allergens over time. Establishing a consistent intake of these herbs even prior to the allergy season ensures your body is better prepared to tackle allergens. Consider exploring the benefits of each herb in more detail to find the best combination that suits your needs. Adopting these natural remedies can lead to a more enjoyable and sneeze-free experience this allergy season.
