After endless trailers and sneak peeks, I'm absolutely buzzing for Black Myth: Wukong! Like many of you, I've found myself endlessly searching for a "black myth games list," hoping to discover more titles that capture that epic action RPG magic. Honestly, the wait can make you feel "worn out," as some in-game characters might even say! But that anticipation just makes me dive deeper into what makes this game, and others like it, so special. From what we've seen, Black Myth: Wukong promises an incredibly detailed world, stunning visuals, and challenging combat centered around the Monkey King himself. Those glimpses of dialogue, like "Did you see that fur-face, wicked lass? He's even uglier than me!" or taunts like "Are you still in the haze or what, you wicked lad?", truly immerse you in its mythical realm. It hints at a captivating story with memorable characters and formidable foes. The combat also looks incredibly dynamic, with abilities that might "immobilize" enemies or put them into an "ashen slumber," suggesting a deep tactical layer beyond just button mashing. Every time I see a new clip, I'm left thinking, "That was... fast!" wondering about the quick reflexes and strategic thinking required to master Wukong's moves. While we eagerly await Black Myth: Wukong, many of us are looking for similar experiences to enjoy. Here's my personal "black myth games list" – a collection of action RPGs that offer a taste of that epic challenge, rich lore, or compelling combat: God of War (2018) & God of War Ragnarök: If you love a strong narrative rooted in mythology, brutal boss fights, and satisfying axe combat, Kratos's Norse adventures are a must-play. The sense of scale, character progression, and stunning world design truly rivals what we hope for in Black Myth: Wukong. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice: For those who crave incredibly precise and challenging combat, Sekiro is a masterpiece. Its parry-focused system and unique posture mechanic demand mastery, much like Wukong's acrobatics and staff work seem to. It’s not Chinese mythology, but the intense boss encounters and mythical enemies provide a similar thrill. Nioh 2: Set in a demon-haunted Sengoku Japan, Nioh 2 offers deep combat mechanics, intricate skill trees, and a loot system that will keep you grinding for hours. Its fast-paced action and mythological creatures make it a fantastic alternative if you're looking for a challenging ARPG with an Asian twist, where you'll definitely feel "Oh, I'm worn out..." after a tough boss! Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty: Speaking of challenging action RPGs with an Asian flair, Wo Long is set during the Three Kingdoms period of China, incorporating elements of Chinese mythology and martial arts. Its "deflect" system is incredibly satisfying, and the mythical beasts you fight feel right out of a classic legend, reminiscent of the foes Wukong might face. These games, in their own ways, capture elements of what makes Black Myth: Wukong so exciting. Whether it's the challenging combat, the mythological settings, or the sheer epic scale, they offer fantastic adventures to tide us over. What's on your "black myth games list" to play while we wait? I'd love to hear your recommendations!
