Okay, so let's talk about Snake Eyes Shirahagi. If you've been playing Sekiro, you know there are certain enemies that just hit different, and for me, Shirahagi was definitely one of them. My first encounter with her was an absolute nightmare, and honestly, the OCR phrases like "OH MY GOD" and "WHAT THE FUCK" pretty much sum up my internal monologue during that fight! I remember thinking, "CAN WE FIGHT" this thing, or am I just going to get grappled into oblivion? It was one of those moments that really tested my patience and made me question my life choices as a shinobi. She's located in the Ashina Depths, guarding the way to the Guardian Ape's second phase arena (or her sister in the Gun Fort). The arena itself is tricky, often with other enemies around that you really want to clear out first – a mistake I definitely made more than once. Trust me, trying to fight Shirahagi while dodging rifle fire from her minions is a recipe for disaster. What makes Shirahagi so tough? Well, for starters, her long-range grapple attack is incredibly punishing. It's a perilous attack, so you can't just block it. You either dodge forward into it to get behind her, or perfectly parry it, but the timing can be brutal. And if she grabs you, prepare to lose a significant chunk of your vitality. I swear, it felt like she was "Wielded in wars of old" with that spear, just relentlessly coming at me. Every time I saw that red kanji, my heart dropped. Then there's the poison. Her attacks can apply "Poison" status, which, as any Sekiro player knows, is something you absolutely want to avoid. Always have some Antidote Powder or the Gokan's Sugar ready if you're struggling, because managing your health while poisoned adds another layer of stress. I found that staying aggressive but smart was key. Deflecting her regular attacks builds her posture quickly, and that's usually your best bet. Don't be afraid to use your Prosthetic Tools! The Loaded Axe can break her posture quickly if you get an opening, and Firecrackers can stun her, giving you a chance for a few hits or to heal. I even experimented with the Sabimaru, given her "Poison" affinity, but honestly, the quick posture damage from the Axe or the stun from Firecrackers felt more consistent for me. One thing I quickly learned is not to panic. Her posture regenerates if you back off too much, so you need to keep the pressure on. It's a dance of deflecting, dodging her perilous attacks, and finding those small windows to chip away at her health or posture. I remember thinking, "I HAVE NEVER PLAYED THIS GAME IN MY FUCKING LIFE" after a particularly devastating grapple, but persistence pays off. It's all about learning her rhythm. She usually follows up her grapple with a sweep or thrust, so prepare to jump or mikiri counter. Understanding these patterns is what turns a seemingly impossible fight into a manageable one. Keep an eye on your "Unseen Aid" chances and make sure your "Attack Power" is as high as you can get it for your current stage of the game, as every little bit helps in these kinds of fights. Be patient, learn her moves, and you'll eventually overcome this incredibly frustrating but ultimately rewarding challenge. Good luck, Sekiro fam, you've got this!
