Shocking experience in Bahrain! Who would have thought that just asking for a basic eating device would make a wallet tear this much?! 😭
The story is that we went to business and ate at a local restaurant in a Bahrain shopping district, where the culture usually eats with our hands and sticks on the table floor, but we have many foreigners on this trip for convenience, so we asked for more "plates, spoons and forks."
The food was delicious. Everything was fine until Checkbil...Elder Guide noticed why the balance was so strange that he asked the shopkeeper the answer that had left us stranded because he charged a separate "cutlery plate" for almost 500 Thai baht per set!! 🤯
The point is, why not inform us before asking? And most importantly, this 500 baht is the rent. Because when finished eating, he collected the dish back and didn't even give us the dish home! At that time, people started to crowd and start looking at us a lot. Finally, I don't want to have a story in foreign countries, so I have to pay confused.
This expensive lesson teaches you...If you want to ask for anything other than what they put, always ask for the price first, otherwise you might find a brutal "plate rent" like us!

จากประสบการณ์ที่ได้ไปเที่ยวและลองทานอาหารในต่างประเทศจริง ๆ ต้องบอกเลยว่าการรู้วัฒนธรรมและธรรมเนียมของแต่ละที่นั้นสำคัญมาก โดยเฉพาะเวลาขออุปกรณ์กินอาหารเพิ่มเติมที่ร้านอาหารท้องถิ่น ที่อาจมีค่าใช้จ่ายแอบแฝงแบบไม่แจ้งล่วงหน้าเหมือนกรณีที่เจอในบาห์เรน การขอจาน ช้อน และส้อมเพิ่มเติม ที่ดูเหมือนเรื่องเล็ก ๆ กลับกลายเป็นปัญหาราคาแพงที่ทำให้เสียความรู้สึกได้ง่าย ผมเองเคยประสบปัญหาคล้าย ๆ กันตอนที่ไปเที่ยวในประเทศแถบเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้บางแห่ง ที่ร้านอาหารบางร้านไม่มีบริการช้อนส้อมให้ครบถ้วนเหมือนในบ้านเรา และเมื่อเราขอเพิ่มก็โดนคิดค่ายืมหรือค่าบริการแบบคิดแยก จุดนี้ทำให้เห็นว่าการถามราคาให้ชัดเจนก่อนสั่งหรือขอสิ่งของใด ๆ เป็นสิ่งที่ควรทำทุกครั้ง เพื่อป้องกันการเข้าใจผิดและไม่เสียเงินโดยไม่จำเป็น นอกจากนี้ยังแนะนำว่าถ้าเราไม่ได้ตกลงราคา หรือรู้สึกว่าโดนเรียกเก็บเกินความเหมาะสม สิ่งที่ทำได้คือการขอพูดคุยกับเจ้าของร้านหรือผู้จัดการอย่างสุภาพเพื่อขอคำชี้แจง เพราะหลายครั้งการสื่อสารที่ดีจะช่วยแก้ไขความเข้าใจผิดและได้ข้อตกลงที่ยุติธรรม สำหรับคนที่วางแผนไปเที่ยวต่างประเทศ การศึกษาวัฒนธรรมการกินของแต่ละชาติและการเตรียมตัวเกี่ยวกับอุปกรณ์กินอาหารก็เป็นเรื่องที่ควรทำ เช่น อาจจะพกรองเท้าหรืออุปกรณ์ส่วนตัวติดตัวไปเองถ้าเป็นไปได้เพื่อหลีกเลี่ยงการขอใช้จานช้อนส้อมที่ต้องเสียค่าใช้จ่ายเพิ่มเติม โดยสรุปแล้ว ประสบการณ์นี้ถือเป็นบทเรียนสำคัญว่าการท่องเที่ยวไม่เพียงแต่สนุกกับการกินและเที่ยวชม แต่ยังต้องระมัดระวังเรื่องการสื่อสารและการตรวจสอบค่าใช้จ่าย เพื่อเดินทางอย่างมีความสุขและไร้ปัญหาการถูกโกงในรูปแบบต่าง ๆ ที่เราอาจไม่คาดคิดมาก่อนเลย
