I usually aim for a slightly safer, resource-rich coastal area to get my bearings. Secondly, focus on getting a good flyer early on. The Fjordur Map is massive and has many vertical elements, so a fast flyer will save you countless hours. Thirdly, don't be afraid to venture into the caves and realms. That's where you'll find the artifacts needed for boss fights and some of the best loot. Just make sure you're geared up!
