Cracking her open again...
Now. No, I don't consider myself a Mormon anymore. Even after I was baptized in the church, the religion just... didn't feel right. I also grew up Christian/Bapist but my house was never strict on faith. Nor was it explored or taught really. I was grateful for what I've learned while sitting with the priests and missionaries, and my husband gifted this to me after he baptized me. But over the years, we came to one realization.
Religious practices can be full of shit.
I got a major ICK when I learned what baptizing the dead meant and even the many requirements to visit their most "sacred churches" in Utah. Even my MIL has separated herself from the church after her spiritual awakening.
But the one thing that has stayed in my collection for all this time, was this book here.
I've hardly touched it since separating myself from the church and any other religion for that matter.
I got into witchcraft a little over a year ago and I'm just getting into the studies of spirits. Throughout my life, that's been a thing that always stuck with me. And I've felt presences of spirits in multiple parts in my life, protecting me, guiding me.
So when the Bible came into the subject, I remembered that I still have this book in particular. I've never thrown it away or donated it for unknown reasons. But maybe it's because I'm now ready to actually study it. No biased, no requirements, just study, and learn more of the earth and spirit world around us.
I say all of this to make this point. If you have that old text that has been sitting in your collection, barely touched and used, maybe it's a sign to pick it up again. Maybe that's something from it that you can learn from. I'm learning more of witchcraft, and this old Bible and Book of Mormon, could help me understand my craft or the spirits among us better. Maybe.
