Double is a big hairy cat so often in summer he feels too hot from the his heavy coat.
And I don‘t want to shave him because cats value their hair a lot. Beautiful hair gives them confidence. （I know Double is a beauty smug😹）Also hair protects them from insects biting 🦟 and sun burning🌞.
But cat and dog only have sweat gland on paws, not like our skin could sweat from anywhere to reduce the heat. Dogs may use their tongue sticking out to release heat but cats usually don’t do that. Plus cats don't like water. So they are more easier to have sunsick in summer hot days. 😵💫
I bought those cooling pads (from Amazon) for Double. When he feels too hot, he could help himself have a cozy snap in hot weather. Especially when sometimes I won't be home, I don’t need to let AC runs all day to waste energy.
