Who’s that Pokémon?

While kitchen knives can work, investing in a basic pumpkin carving kit with smaller saws and etching tools makes a huge difference, especially for those detailed features like Murkrow's tail feathers or eyes. When carving, remember to always cut away from yourself. For intricate designs, I often use a technique called 'shaving' or 'etching' where you only remove the top layer of the pumpkin skin instead of cutting all the way through. This creates a really cool multi-dimensional effect, and it's perfect for complex Pokémon like Charizard or Lugia, where you want to show depth without making the pumpkin too fragile. Traditional candles are charming, but battery-operated LED lights are safer and often brighter, making your Pokémon's detailed silhouette shine even more brightly against the dark background. I love experimenting with different colored LED lights to match the Pokémon's aura! For my Murkrow, a classic warm white or even a subtle purple would have been amazing.
