NTR: Netsuzou Trap

As a huge fan of psychological drama and romance in manga, Netsuzou Trap has always stuck with me, not just for its controversial themes but for its complex, often infuriating characters. When I first read it, I found myself constantly questioning their motivations, which led me to put together my own ranking based on how 'good' a person I believe they truly are. It’s a fascinating way to look at the story beyond just the surface-level NTR plot. Let's start with who I think is the 'best' among the main four, and that would easily be Takeda. He’s Yuma’s boyfriend, and in my opinion, he's the most innocent character in the entire series. He genuinely cares for Yuma, is supportive, and completely unaware of the twisted dynamic unfolding behind his back. His trusting nature makes him a tragic figure, and he's essentially a victim in the whole Netsuzou Trap. He tries his best to be a good partner, and honestly, he deserves so much better. His storyline highlights the cruel nature of the NTR theme, as he's consistently betrayed without knowing. Next up, I'd say Yuma Okazaki herself. While she makes some incredibly questionable decisions throughout the manga, I believe her actions stem largely from confusion, insecurity, and being manipulated. She's constantly torn between her feelings for Takeda and her increasingly complex, unsettling relationship with Hotaru. Her internal struggles are palpable, and you see her trying to navigate a situation she clearly doesn't understand or know how to escape. He's openly self-serving and doesn't pretend to be anything else. He sees an opportunity and takes it, exploiting both Yuma and Hotaru's vulnerabilities, especially regarding the Yuma and Hotaru dynamic. His actions are deplorable, but there's a certain honesty in his villainy compared to Hotaru's veiled malice. He's a catalyst for much of the NTR drama, pushing boundaries and exacerbating the uncomfortable situations. And finally, the character I consider the 'worst': Hotaru Mizushina. This isn't really a spoiler if you've read the manga, but I genuinely believe she's the most toxic character. Her actions are consistently selfish, manipulative, and driven by a desire for control and attention, often at Yuma's expense. She initiates most of the illicit encounters, actively seduces Yuma while both are in relationships, and constantly gaslights her friend. Her casual cruelty and lack of remorse for the emotional damage she inflicts make her utterly irredeemable in my eyes.
