Trauma Responses We Normalize But Shouldn’t
Many of the behaviors we criticize ourselves for are actually trauma responses that helped us survive unsafe or overwhelming environments.
❌People-pleasing.
❌Avoiding conflict.
❌Doing everything alone.
As a psychologist, I want to be clear: these patterns aren’t flaws, they’re learned protections. And healing doesn’t mean shaming them away. It means gently choosing new ways when safety allows.
You’re not broken.
You adapted.

I am a psych patient since my 20’s with bipolar, and generalized anxiety disorder. I do absolutely everything on here. Ihave MANY trauma responses but zero recollection of any trauma. In my mind I had an incredible childhood. Lost both my parents early (Daddy was 46 and Mama was 57) losing daddy to a firey car crash and Mama to cancer. Had some messed up relationships but I believe my mental health played a role in their demise. How do I find out what my trauma is? I can’t Fix it if I don’t know.
