A week of milestones: Why my boys always wear suits 👑🎓🍼
There is a tradition I started with my boys that means the world to me: whenever they reach a major milestone in life, I dress them up in a sharp, dapper suit to celebrate the occasion.
It’s our little way of pausing time, honoring their growth, and stepping into the next chapter with intention. But this week? This week was completely overwhelming in the best way possible because all three of my boys reached a milestone at the exact same time.
My oldest officially graduated TK! 🎓✨My middle boy celebrated his big 3rd birthday! 🎂🎈Our youngest just hit the 4-month mark! 🍼👶🏽
Seeing all three of my sons standing together in their matching suits literally brought tears to my eyes. Motherhood is a wild, chaotic, fast-moving lane, and chapters change in the blink of an eye. One minute you’re in the thick of the postpartum trenches, and the next, your oldest is putting on a graduation cap.
Dressing them up is my way of rolling up the windows to the daily chaos and saying, "Look at how far we've come. Look at what we are building."
If you’re a boy mom preparing for milestone photos or a special celebration, styling little ones in formal wear can be a challenge. Here are 3 tips for styling toddler/baby suits comfortably:
1. Ditch the Stiff Fabrics: Look for suits made of soft cotton blends or unstructured linen. Kids need to move, jump, and play, even when they look dapper.
2. Opt for Elastic and Velcro: For the toddlers and infants, elastic-waist trousers and clip-on or velcro bowties are literal lifesavers. It keeps the outfit secure without making them feel restricted.
3. The "Last Minute" Rule: Keep them in a comfortable t-shirt and diaper until 10 minutes before the photos or event. Pop the suit jacket and button-down on at the absolute last second to avoid spills, wrinkles, or mid-day meltdowns!
These photos are officially going straight into a frame. My heart is completely full. 🤍
Mamas, do you have any special style traditions or rituals you do with your kids to celebrate their big milestones?
