Today, while I was out running,
“Dance with My Father” by Luther Vandross came on my playlist, and that thought just hit me out of nowhere. There’s something about that song that makes you pause and reflect. Even if you haven’t lived that exact story, you can still feel the emotion behind every word, the longing, the love, the wish for one more moment with someone who meant everything.
Grief has a way of reminding us how fragile time really is, and how love never truly leaves, it just changes form. It lives on in memories, in music, and in those small, unexpected moments that bring us right back to them.
Tonight, I’m thinking of everyone carrying someone in their hearts that they can’t see, call, or hold anymore. May we find comfort in the thought that they’re dancing somewhere, smiling, and still part of our lives in ways we can’t always see. 💔🕊️ Rip Mama 🫶🏿
