just a 36 year old girl
Balancing a demanding career in dermatology with personal and family life can feel overwhelming, especially when coupled with maintaining a healthy lifestyle. From my experience, setting realistic daily goals is essential. I aim to incorporate Pilates four times a week, which not only supports physical strength but also helps reduce stress. Nutrition plays a crucial role in sustaining energy for both work and home activities. I focus on consuming enough protein to support muscle repair and maintenance—around 30 grams daily—as well as ensuring I get 30 grams of fiber to aid digestion and overall wellness. Staying hydrated is another important factor; I make it a point to drink at least 64 ounces of water every day. Sleep is non-negotiable for me. Getting over seven hours of quality rest allows me to function effectively as a dermatologist, a mom, and even a content creator. Balancing professional development, like keeping up with advances in dermatology, alongside family obligations requires strong time management and prioritizing tasks. Managing social responsibilities and maintaining relationships with family and friends, even those who live far away, adds another layer to the balancing act. Planning visits and staying connected digitally helps maintain these bonds. Lastly, creating content and handling administrative duties such as taxes can be integrated into less intense parts of the day. The key is to break down tasks and not let any single role overwhelm you. Overall, the journey of balancing professional duties with personal life as a 36-year-old dermatologist and mom is challenging but rewarding. Emphasizing self-care, nutrition, exercise, sleep, and time management can make it manageable and fulfilling.
