What are your go to stores for dresses?

✨Sunday Fit Check✨

I was asked if I was a missionary 😂😂

But since my intentional, yet ill prepared weight gain I struggled with finding clothes I’m comfortable wearing, especially to church. So for a while (when I would go to church) I wore jeans 😓.

It felt good to comfortably wear a dress that didn’t make me feel like a stuff chicken.. 🫠

... Read moreFinding the perfect dress for everyday wear can sometimes feel like a quest, especially when you want something that's both comfortable and stylish. I've been there, struggling to find pieces that make me feel good, whether I'm running errands or heading to a casual brunch. It's not just about finding *a* dress, but finding a go-to store that consistently delivers what you need for your daily life. So, what makes a dress shop "the best" for everyday wear? For me, it boils down to a few key factors: affordability, variety, comfort-focused designs, and accessibility. Budget-Friendly & Trendy (Think H&M, Target, Old Navy): These are my absolute first stops! Stores like H&M and Target are fantastic for finding stylish, comfortable dresses that won't break the bank. You can often grab a versatile cotton blend dress that's perfect for layering or wearing on its own. I always check their new arrivals for shift dresses, t-shirt dresses, and simple A-line styles. They're great for trying out trends without a huge commitment, and often carry accessories like earrings or even a K-pendant to complete your look. Department Stores (Macy's, Nordstrom Rack, Kohl's): Don't overlook department stores! While they might seem geared towards more formal wear, their sale racks and specific casual sections can be goldmines. They often carry a wider range of brands and quality levels, allowing you to find a more durable, everyday staple. Look for brands known for travel-friendly fabrics or classic silhouettes. Online Retailers (ASOS, Lulus, Amazon, Zara): The internet is a treasure trove! Online shops offer an unparalleled selection, and you can filter by fabric, style, occasion, and price. My tip? Always read the reviews and check the sizing charts. It's a great way to discover unique pieces you might not find locally. You can even find fun accessories like an Apple Watch band or a quality bag to pair with your dresses. Thrift & Consignment Stores: For sustainable and unique finds, nothing beats second-hand shopping. You’d be surprised by the hidden gems you can uncover – sometimes even designer pieces like a vintage Kate Spade item or a Tory Burch bag, if you're lucky! It takes a bit more patience, but the rewards are often worthwhile, offering dresses with character and a story. When you're actually in the shop or browsing online, here's what I look for in an everyday dress: Fabric First: Breathable materials like cotton, linen, rayon, or a good quality jersey blend are essential. They're comfortable for long hours and generally easy to care for. Comfortable Fit: An everyday dress shouldn't restrict you. Look for relaxed fits, elasticated waists, or styles with a bit of stretch. You want to be able to move freely, whether you're chasing after kids or just lounging. Versatility is Key: Can it be dressed up with a nice pair of shoes and a statement permanent anklet from Nora Links, or dressed down with sneakers and a denim jacket? Simple, classic designs in solid colors or subtle prints usually offer the most versatility. Easy Care: Machine washable is a huge plus! Who has time for extensive dry cleaning for an everyday item? Ultimately, the 'best' dress shop for everyday wear is one that aligns with your personal style, budget, and comfort needs. Don't be afraid to explore different options and experiment until you find your perfect go-to spots!
