DOCTOR LIFE VLOG 🫶

Days in my life definitely vary but lately I've been going into the inpatient psychiatric unit, seeing patients ( doing notes) and after lunch break I go to my child and adolescent outpatient clinic for appointments. When I'm done I go to the gym ( yay!) and enjoy dinner ( maybe dessert) and unwind from the day.

... Read moreIt's true, my days as a psychiatry resident are a constant juggle, especially when you're also navigating a life outside of medicine, perhaps even as a parent. Many of you reach out, searching for insights into 'parents in the medical field' or how one becomes a 'medical degree content creator.' Let me tell you, it's not always easy, but finding harmony in this demanding career is incredibly rewarding. One of the most frequent questions I encounter is about balancing a rigorous resident schedule with family life. After rounds in the inpatient psychiatric unit, diligently completing notes, and then transitioning to my child and adolescent outpatient clinic appointments, the clock seems to spin faster. When I mention going to 'my child' after lunch, it touches on a core challenge for many medical professionals who are also parents. My strategy involves meticulous planning and setting firm boundaries. I prioritize moments that matter, like making sure I'm mentally present for those clinic sessions, knowing each child's well-being is paramount. It also means being smart about every minute – that 'Lazy girl lunch' I posted, for instance, isn't just about convenience; it's about efficient fueling so I can keep going without sacrificing precious time. It’s a constant dance between professional duties and personal commitments, requiring a strong support system and self-compassion. Life as a 'psychiatry resident doctor,' whether I'm in my scrubs walking purposefully down a hospital hallway or deep in conversation during a therapy session, is uniquely challenging and profoundly fulfilling. The inpatient unit demands incredible emotional resilience, witnessing some of life's toughest moments. Then, shifting gears to the child and adolescent outpatient clinic, where you might find 'fidget toys' on the waiting room table, requires a blend of clinical expertise and a gentle, understanding approach. It's about meeting young patients where they are, helping them articulate their feelings, and guiding families towards better mental health. This dual role keeps me on my toes, constantly learning and growing. Beyond the stethoscope and clinical charts, my journey as a 'doctor content creator' has become an unexpected, yet vital, part of my identity. What started as casual 'mirror selfie' moments in my scrubs and jacket, sharing glimpses of my day, has evolved into a platform to demystify medicine and connect with a broader community. For those wondering how to be a 'medical degree content creator,' my advice is simple: start with authenticity. Share what you know, what you experience, and what you’re passionate about. It doesn’t require elaborate setups; often, the most relatable content comes from genuine, unpolished moments. It’s a powerful way to process experiences, educate, and build a supportive network, all while fitting it into the small pockets of time available between shifts. And speaking of sustaining oneself through long days, prioritizing personal well-being is non-negotiable. That 'Gym time Me time' isn't merely a luxury; it's a cornerstone of my mental and physical health. Whether I'm engaging with the 'weight racks, dumbbells, and kettlebells' or just getting in some cardio, it's my dedicated space to decompress and recharge. This physical outlet is crucial for managing the stress inherent in my profession. Following a strenuous workout, winding down with a nourishing 'Dinner & dessert,' perhaps complemented by 'peptides' for recovery, marks the official end of my demanding day. These small rituals of self-care are what truly sustain me, allowing me to show up fully for my patients, my family, and myself in this incredible, albeit challenging, medical career.

Morning in the life as a SAHW
I’ve been studying Proverbs 31 as I am striving to be the woman of God He has made me to be. I don’t think I will ever become this perfect version of a Biblical wife, as it’s a daily battle between what my flesh wants and what God calls me to be, but I look forward to the little moments and little

Could it be lupus? What to know BEFORE you see a doctor
You’ve been tired for way too long. Your joints hurt. You feel off. You’ve gone to the doctor… and left with no real answers. Here’s the thing: Lupus can be sneaky. It mimics other conditions and hides behind vague symptoms. And many people (especially women) go years without a diagnosis.
