In between reads

Taking breaks between chapters has become part of my self-care routine 📖✨

I love getting lost in a good book, but I’ve also learned the importance of slowing down in between pages. Lately, I’ve been pairing my reading time with quiet moments of coloring on my iPad using Zen Color 🎨🧘🏾‍♀️

It’s my way of resetting—no pressure, no noise, just something calming and creative to balance out my day. A few minutes of coloring helps me come back to my book feeling more present, relaxed, and grounded.

Self-care doesn’t always have to be big or complicated… sometimes it’s just pausing, breathing, and letting your mind rest in something gentle

... Read moreIncorporating short breaks between reading sessions can significantly improve your overall reading experience and mental well-being. From my personal experience, these pauses serve as essential moments to reset and re-center, especially when paired with creative activities like coloring on an iPad using apps such as Zen Color. This practice not only helps reduce eye strain but also engages different parts of the brain, allowing for a balanced mental state. When I started integrating these mindful breaks into my reading routine, I noticed a deeper connection to the material. The act of coloring gently shifts my focus away from words, giving my mind the chance to unwind and absorb the story better. It’s a simple, no-pressure approach to self-care that anyone can tailor to their preferences—whether that’s doodling, meditating, or just sitting quietly. Additionally, consistent breaks between chapters contribute to better mental health by preventing reading fatigue and reducing stress. These moments foster present-moment awareness, helping to slow down the often fast pace of daily life. For readers looking to embrace a softer lifestyle, this gentle approach to combining reading with creativity and mindfulness can make a profound difference. I recommend trying different forms of mindful pause activities to find what resonates best with you. Whether it’s using Zen Color’s calming palettes or your own doodle style, the key is to cherish that silence and creativity between chapters. This routine has not only enhanced my reading pleasure but also turned self-care into an accessible and enjoyable part of my day.
