I love this song SNOW much
Hey everyone! Nyeh heh heh! I'm so excited to finally share some behind-the-scenes magic of my Papyrus Undertale costume. It's been a dream project of mine, and I learned so much along the way to bring this magnificent skeleton to life! When I decided to tackle a Papyrus cosplay, my first thought was, "How do I even make those bones?!" I started by meticulously looking for reference images and breaking down his iconic look: the battle body, the super cool red scarf, and of course, his adorable, determined skeleton face. I wanted to make sure every detail was as accurate as possible to truly capture his fabulous essence. For Papyrus's battle body, I actually used a clever combination of foam sheets and fabric. I carefully cut out the bone shapes from EVA foam, which is surprisingly versatile, then sanded them down for a smoother finish. After that, I painted them with white acrylics, adding some subtle shading to give them a bit more dimension and make them pop! Attaching them to a black base suit was a bit tricky, requiring a good amount of hot glue and some flexible stitches to ensure everything stayed in place while allowing for movement. Remember, Papyrus is all about dramatic poses, so comfort and flexibility are key! The iconic red scarf is probably the easiest part, but it's absolutely essential to the whole Papyrus look! I found a nice, flowy red fabric and simply hemmed the edges. You want it long enough to drape dramatically, just like our favorite skeleton. Sometimes I even add a little hidden wire to the edges to help it hold its shape for those perfect photo opportunities. His skeleton head and makeup were a big challenge for me. I opted for face paint rather than a mask, as I really wanted to show some expression and bring out his personality. I used high-quality, water-activated white face paint for the base, then carefully applied black for the eye sockets and nose. Getting the small details like the 'smile' lines just right really helped to bring out his charming personality. My advice? Practice makes perfect with face paint, so do a few trial runs before the big day! For his boots, I managed to find a pair of black boots that were the right shape and then added some white trim to match his design. Simple black gloves completed the look for his hands, making sure every part of my Papyrus costume was coherent. It's often about finding existing pieces and then modifying them to perfectly fit the character you're trying to embody. Don't be afraid to get creative with your finds! If you're thinking of making your own Papyrus costume, here are my top tips based on my experience: 1. Start Early: Especially if you're making props or intricate pieces, give yourself plenty of time. 2. Reference, Reference, Reference: Look at official art and other cosplayers for inspiration – it helps immensely! 3. Budget Wisely: You don't need to spend a fortune; thrift stores and craft supplies can be your best friends. 4. Comfort is Key: You'll be wearing it for hours, so make sure you can move, breathe, and even eat comfortably! 5. Have Fun! That's truly the most important part of cosplay, right? Cosplaying Papyrus was such a rewarding experience. He's such a beloved character, and seeing people's reactions and smiles made all the hard work worth it. What's your favorite Undertale character to cosplay, or one you dream of doing? Let me know in the comments!
