Humidity Hates Makeup!

Having battled humid climates myself, I’ve found that maintaining makeup during hot and sticky weather really comes down to prepping your skin well and choosing the right products. First, hydration without heaviness is key; applying a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer before your primer helps your skin breathe and keeps makeup from sliding off. Primer is a lifesaver because it creates a barrier that keeps moisture at bay, but be sure to choose one designed for oily or combination skin to prevent excess shine. Applying foundation sparingly can’t be overstated. When too much product is layered on, it often breaks down faster in humidity. I prefer using a damp beauty sponge to sheer out foundation and achieve natural coverage without the heavy feeling. Setting your makeup with a mattifying finishing powder seals the look and controls excess oils throughout the day. Translucent powders work well for all skin tones and don’t add extra color or texture. In addition, blotting papers can be a quick fix to absorb midday shine without disturbing your makeup. For longer wear, consider makeup products labeled as waterproof or sweat-resistant. Avoid touching your face to reduce the risk of makeup melting away. With these strategies, a fresh, matte complexion in summer’s humid conditions is totally achievable.
