Can You Spot A False Prophet Biblically?

One of the strongest warnings Jesus gave was about false prophets.

In a world filled with countless voices, teachings, and spiritual claims, how can believers know who is speaking the truth and who is leading people away from God’s Word?

📖 This visual storyboard was created to help Christians understand what the Bible says about false prophets, false teachers, and spiritual deception.

Rather than relying on opinions or traditions, this board points directly to Scripture and highlights the biblical warnings God gives His people.

Inside this storyboard you’ll discover:

⚠️ What a false prophet is

⚠️ How false prophets deceive people

⚠️ Biblical warning signs to watch for

⚠️ What Jesus taught about false teachers

⚠️ How to test teachings against Scripture

⚠️ The difference between good fruit and bad fruit

⚠️ How believers can protect themselves from deception

Many Christians know false teachers exist, but aren’t always sure how to identify them biblically. This visual study guide brings together key passages from Scripture to help believers grow in discernment and remain grounded in God’s truth.

📚 Perfect for:

• Personal Bible study

• Discernment studies

• Small group discussions

• Homeschool lessons

• Sunday school classes

• Bible journaling

• Digital note-taking

• Christian education resources

Key Bible References:

📖 Matthew 7:15–20

📖 Matthew 24:11

📖 Matthew 24:24

📖 Deuteronomy 18:20–22

📖 2 Peter 2:1–3

📖 1 John 4:1

📖 Galatians 1:8–9

📖 Acts 17:11

One of Jesus’ clearest warnings was:

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” — Matthew 7:15

This storyboard helps readers understand that true discernment comes from knowing God’s Word. The better we know Scripture, the easier it becomes to recognize teachings that do not align with it.

✨ Ways to use this resource:

• Compare teachings with Scripture

• Study biblical discernment

• Strengthen your understanding of truth

• Use during Bible journaling

• Teach family members and small groups

• Reference during personal study

📚 Every Drawn By Scripture storyboard includes Bible references throughout the design so you can study directly from God’s Word and verify every detail for yourself.

🤎 As always, these visual resources are not founded on my own understanding, opinions, or traditions. Every board is built directly from Scripture, with Bible references included throughout so that God’s Word remains the authority and the proof.

What Bible verse has helped you grow in discernment and recognize truth from error?

... Read moreFrom my own journey studying Scripture, one of the most impactful realizations is how critical it is to know the Word deeply to discern truth from falsehood. False prophets appear trustworthy on the surface — often coming in "sheep's clothing" as Matthew 7:15 warns — but their motives stem from pride, greed, or deception rather than genuine faith. What stood out to me is how they often add to or distort God's message, which is why 2 Timothy 3:16–17 on Scripture's sufficiency became a foundational truth for me. I recall times when teachings sound appealing or promising, like wealth or success, yet when tested by Scripture, those messages don't align with God's truth. The visual storytelling in this article, combined with key verses like Deuteronomy 18:20–22 and 1 John 4:1, provides practical ways believers can evaluate what they hear. Testing prophecies and teachings against the Bible not only protects from deception but also strengthens faith. Another useful takeaway is differentiating between "good fruit" and "bad fruit" (Matthew 7:16-20). False teachers often exhibit divisive behavior, manipulation, or call for prideful agendas instead of humility and repentance. I’ve found that praying for wisdom (James 1:5) and maintaining a community that holds one accountable is essential in building discernment. For anyone wanting to grow in biblical discernment, using visual resources like this can make Scripture more approachable, especially for complex topics. Applying this knowledge personally and in group studies, Bible journaling, or homeschooling can deepen understanding and help others avoid spiritual deception. Staying anchored in Scripture and relying on God’s Spirit for guidance are key steps to safely navigate the many voices in today’s spiritual landscape.

The image displays the title "HOW TO HANDLE STRONG EMOTIONS AND FEELINGS" in white text with a black outline, set against a background of pink and yellow roses. A small "lemon8 @southofthestars" watermark is in the bottom left corner.
The first tip, "1. Pray for them," suggests praying for others to develop a relationship with God, repent, be blessed, forgive themselves, and for those who persecute you, referencing Matthew 5:44 and Romans 12:14.
The second tip, "2. Pray for your own mind," encourages praying for wisdom, protection from lies, peace, and turning to God during hurt, citing various biblical verses like James 1:5 and Philippians 4:6-7.
