Most Christians Don’t Know Why Jesus Was Called the Lamb of God | Bible Study
Have you ever wondered why John the Baptist called Jesus “the Lamb of God”? It’s one of the most important titles in the whole Bible because it connects the Old Testament to Jesus.
Here’s what it means:
🐑 In the Old Testament, lambs were sacrificed for sin.
🩸 At Passover, the blood of a spotless lamb protected the Israelites from judgment (Exodus 12).
✝️ John the Baptist said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29).
❤️ Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life and became the final sacrifice for our sins.
👑 Because of His death and resurrection, we can receive forgiveness and have peace with God through faith in Him.
The Bible shows us that the Passover lamb, the temple sacrifices, and the prophecies in Isaiah all point to Jesus. He wasn’t just called the Lamb of God as a symbol. He fulfilled everything those sacrifices were pointing toward.
What’s your favorite verse about Jesus being the Lamb of God? I’d love to read it, so leave it in the comments. 👇
All of the information in this post comes from the Bible. We don’t lean on our own understanding, and if you’re ever in doubt, always go back to the Bible and read the Scriptures for yourself.
