Any Artist on Lemon8?
I don’t consider myself an artist by any means. Quite frankly, I don’t really understand half the stuff I draw. When I get into a creative mindset, it feels amazing to sketch something out on a piece of paper. Typically, I don’t go into the whole artistic process with something concrete in mind. It kinda just comes to me as I go. I think that’s why I gravitate towards abstract art above all other styles.
When I attempt to create something that’s more natural/realistic, I tend to hate how it turns out. Even though it may look decent, I always feel the need to add more and more details. The more I add, the more I become disappointed. In other words, I can never perfect the way I envision it.
Maybe that’s why I feel more confident in my Abstract compositions? It’s not supposed to make sense. The “details” that drive me insane in realism are redefined in abstraction. Most people tell me they prefer the Heart or the Skull, finding that style more appealing. Despite that feedback, I still find it hard to appreciate them. Does anyone else get similar feelings or thoughts about their own work?
Regardless, these are some of my favorite pieces that I’ve created over time. My parents told me to start putting my work out there, so here we go Lol.
To any artists out on Lemon8 - Please share your work with me here in the comments. I’d love to see your work 😄

It's so true what you said about the feeling of just letting creativity flow onto paper – that's exactly how I feel about sketching too! Sometimes, I don't even have a clear idea, it just starts with a line or a shape, and before I know it, something unique emerges. For anyone out there curious about diving into the world of Lemon8 sketches, I wanted to share a bit more about my own process and what I've learned through my journey from trying to perfect realism to embracing the beautiful freedom of abstract art. One thing I've realized is that a sketch doesn't have to be a masterpiece. It can be a quick doodle, a concept exploration, or even just a way to work through an idea. Take for instance, a 'Skull Concept Sketch' – it's not about making it perfectly anatomically correct, but about capturing an essence, a mood, or a starting point for something bigger. These initial explorations are so valuable because they take the pressure off. You're not aiming for perfection, just expression. I find that inspiration for my Lemon8 sketches can come from anywhere. Sometimes it’s something as unexpected as a 'Heart on Boarding Pass Lol' moment, where a random object sparks an idea for a quick sketch. Other times, it's exploring deeper emotions, which often leads me to more abstract compositions. That's where pieces like 'Pure Chaos Abstract Work' or 'COLORFUL DARKNESS - ABSTRACT 3D WORK' come from. It’s about translating feelings and thoughts into visual forms, without the constraint of needing to represent something literally. If you're just starting out or feeling a creative block, here are a few tips I've picked up for your own Lemon8 sketches: Don't overthink it: Grab any paper and a pen. The simpler the tools, the less intimidating it feels. Warm-up with doodles: Loosen your hand and mind with random lines, shapes, or patterns. This helps get rid of that initial blank page paralysis. Explore different textures: Try cross-hatching, stippling, or continuous line drawing. See what feels natural to you. Find your inspiration: Look around you! A crinkled leaf, a shadow on the wall, or even the abstract patterns in spilled coffee can be a starting point. Embrace imperfection: The beauty of a sketch often lies in its raw, unrefined quality. It’s a snapshot of a creative moment. Share your progress: Don't wait until something is 'finished.' Sharing your sketches, even if they feel incomplete, can be incredibly motivating and connect you with a supportive community here on Lemon8. Lemon8 is such a fantastic space to share these raw, process-focused art pieces. It's not just about the final polished product, but about the journey and the connection with others who understand the creative struggle and joy. So, keep sketching, keep exploring, and don't be afraid to put your unique perspective out there!
